A legendary founder member of STAX of SOUL, Don has an excellent CV and has played every gig the band has ever done since 1983. Don started playing at the age of 7, did his first gig in 1960 and turned professional in the mid 1960's with a band called The Puppets touring the UK extensively as well as doing a short spell in Saudi Arabia. Throughout the 70's and 80's Don worked with a variety of different bands at various Mecca gigs and night clubs up and down the country. Don has also backed and toured with the likes of Gene Vincent, Billy Fury, Elkie Brooks and Kiki Dee, as well as providing backing in the musical sections for the great comedians of the 70's and 80's such as Bob Monkhouse, Bernard Manning, Phil Cool, Frank Carson, Roy Walker and many more. Don has also appeared on the same bill as Gerry and the pacemakers, The Seekers, Rod Stewart and Manfred Mann. An original member of STAX of SOUL Don says… "23 years have passed as if it was just one. It's very easy to lose track of time whilst being with these great lads in STAX of SOUL. The fun and banter backstage and the pleasure of entertaining people has made my time with the band a very enjoyable experience. Under it's new name, long live STAX of SOUL".
